PSHE

Personal Social Health and Economic (PSHE) education is taught by class teachers in Forms I and II and the Deputy Head in Forms III - V. Each class has one period a week that is set aside for PSHE lessons and this is supplemented by form times twice a week. We follow the Jigsaw PSHE programme covering six core areas every year: Being Me in My World, Celebrating Difference, Dreams and Goals, Healthy Me, Relationships and Changing Me.  Topics are dealt with at an age-appropriate level and the small groups allow considerable scope for discussion and debate. PSHE lessons are further supported by whole school assemblies and celebrating awareness weeks and days throughout the year such as Anti-Bullying Week, Children’s Mental Health Week, Black History Month and Parliament Week.

PSHE lessons naturally lend themselves to opportunities for broader discussion and they form an important part of the school’s system for pastoral care.
